Should I Provoke a Blind Man? (2/97)
We are all blind in certain ways, aren't we?
Some more than others; given.
And so the frightful question comes,
Should I provoke a blind man?
Is it obvious that I could help?
a man who does not help himself.
Is it obvious there be any gain?
at helping others in their pain.
First, perhaps the ponder is:
Why is this blind man blind at all?
And does this blind man wish to see?
And then these other feelings comes
of woe to me to cure the blind
when this reserved for men with sight, or Gods.
And true enough the blind man may
be quite provoked that I should ask
the reasons of his blindness be,
when has not an answer known.
Another way, annoyance more,
to raise a blind man's temper yet
for him to see that I can cope,
my blindness firmly dealt with,
through some obscure accountability,
or worse, religious means.
Giving lessons I have not learned?
And what's the damage if I falter?
To be blind and angry, too
Is probably the better still
than being blind and numb.
And should I give a damn?
For being blind is being human,
and is not reason sure enough
annoyance to a blind man bring?
If I be right in this, seems sure,
not one of us to see the more.
Yet so by opening my views
As well, I may begin to see myself.
